Vivid childhood memories of lush Amish countrysides in Pennsylvania have enhanced Marlis’ artistic expressions. Sweet dreams of long days at Lake Michigan find favor in her art as well. As her family resides in Albuquerque, her art also hints of Southwestern culture .

A mother of five, Marlis’ art is anchored in reality although dreams abound. “God gave me a precious gift I was lucky to see”. Having studied art at Park College and Kansas City Art Institute, Marlis enjoys sculpture, Raku and oil paintings of historical architecture. Pastels are her love. “I didn’t go looking for them – they found me!”

Today, Marlis lives at White Oak Lodge on the rolling hills of north Pettis County, Missouri. She is happy to do commissions of your favorite scenery, historical homes, etc. (No people or pets). Marlis can work from a photograph of your favorite landscape, building or architecture and can create a finished pastel in any size from a photograph.
